Just Leave Me Alone

I'll make space for me

I breath out a sigh

as you pull away

Guilt and relief intermingle

because when few others were

you were there for me

but was it even for me?

or was this the moment when you win?

Waiting in the wings

for when a lifetime of my choices

explodes in my face

I maintain

I could have done better

but that could be said for anyone

My heart like my motivations were pure

I thought you agreed

But lately there is a side of you

that I have never seen

Self conscious I remember

but never directed towards me

Or was it and I didn't see?

But now I can clearly

You like me weak

struggling

broke down

meek

When an alpha falls the betas rise

to claim the same space

that took hard sacrifices to keep

Did you come around to learn from my mistakes

or was it to mimic me

My best qualities yours now to fake

It's a lazy shortcut to take

You make rules for me

You think I need you

If you think I'll abide

You don't understand what makes me

who I am

You will never be me

and soon she will see

and when she longs for the real person

you will placate

because you lack good taste

dear god go

and make haste

because I am happiest

alone in the space that I make
