Just A Girl

A Poem

By Sara WilsonPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

Look close now

Her eyes are wet

But she's just a girl

One day she'll forget

What happened to her?

She used to smile.

But she's just a girl

It might take awhile.

What's that on her arm?

Scars? Bruises? Blood?

But she's just a girl.

It's all in her head.

Why's she gone quiet?

She used to be loud

Well, she's just a girl

So I guess it's allowed.

I should give her a call

I have nothing to do

And she's just a girl

So she's useless too.

"I can't take the time off

It's just too far to go."

And you're just a girl

You should already know.

Was I just a mistake?

Why am I always forgotten?

Because I'm just a girl

I'm toxic. I'm rotten.

"No, you're wrong, kiddo.

It's all in your mind."

No, I'm just a girl

the one you left behind.
