Just a dog

What does that even mean?

How can it be just a dog?

It can’t be just a dog

There’s no such a thing as just a dog

Dogs are the most loyal and loving beings

They’ll steal your heart the moment you meet

You bring your just a dog home

You fall in-love with dog

Watch him grow from a puppy

You and your new pal go on lifelong adventures

Your just a dog became part of the family

Through drastic breakups

To career changes and

Moving to new places

Even long days hiking and dog parks

When that’s not enough go on long road trips

As the years go on and just a dog slows down

You start to worry

His hair goes white and grey

You know the time is coming

But just one more summer

One more birthday

One more Christmas

One more snowfall

One more car rid

Until you make one more stop

Just one more minute.

Looking back on the years

You wonder if you’re doing the right thing

If you could have one more minute

You remember all the good times you’ve had

With just a dog

When remembering all these adventures

Just a dog was just content with just being with you

It’s okay because it was just a dog
