June’s Child

To Be Born June 21st

Born on the Cusp of Magic

On the longest day of the year

Thrice blessed by the gemstones:

Pure Pearl for Wisdom

Ever-changing Alexandrite for Transformation

And iridescent Moonstone for Balance

Surely such a child cannot be touched

By strife or turmoil

***

But lo! The years do come

And fortunes do change

A bright future becomes a dull present

Becomes a dreary past

Life, as with us all, takes its toll

Turns the Magic into Illusion

The Wisdom into Folly

Transformation into Stagnation

Balance into Chaos

And the blessed child feels blessed no more

Neither astounding nor cursed

Just…normal

***

And normality to the blessed is a curse

A lack of adventure and creativity

A lack of love and beauty in her world

A drag to the life she was promised

On the day she was born

***

Perhaps one June the stars will align again

And her fortunes will change once more

The longest day will feel brighter

Pearl will shine its Wisdom again

Alexandrite will shift so beautifully

Moonstone will bring back inner peace

And the Magic will return

And June’s child will feel the sun shine upon her

Forever more
