And now Jose?
The party is over,
the light went out,
the people disappeared
the night has gone cold,
and now Jose?
and now, you?
you who are nameless,
who mocks others,
you who write verses,
who loves, protests?
And now, José? He's without a wife,
is speechless,
is without affection,
can no longer drink
you can no longer smoke,
spit can no longer,
the night has gone cold,
the day did not come,
the tram did not come,
the laughter did not come,
utopia did not come
and everything ended
and everything ran away
and everything molded,
what now, José? And now, José?
your sweet word,
your moment of fever,
your gluttony and fasting,
your library,
your gold mine,
your glass suit,
your inconsistency,
your hate, – what now? With the key in hand
want to open the door,
there is no door;
wants to die at sea,
but the sea dried up;
wants to go to Minas,
Mines are no more.
Joseph, what now?
If you screamed,
if you moan,
if you touched
the viennese waltz,
if you slept,
if you got tired,
if you died...
But you don't die
you are tough, José!
Alone in the dark
which wild animal,
without theogony,
no bare wall
to lean on,
no black horse
to run away at a gallop,
you march, Jose!
Joseph, where?
