I am just a shadow,

I’m just the thing

Behind the scenes,

With not a friend to tell.

I am just the background noise;

The hushed part of the soul,

The silent underlying groan

That slowly takes its toll.

I am just the distant thought

Left lonely in your mind.

The abandoned piece

That knows you need

To leave her far behind.
