Its Saturday at last

Its Saturday at last

Saturday

After a long week

I lie in bed

day not asking much of me

Curtains barely open

the light comes in slow

I stretch, I sigh

I smile a little

because it’s Saturday

and I love weekends

No alarms

no reason to rush

just the soft hush

of nothing planned

I stay till eleven

then pad to the kitchen

barefoot, in yesterday’s T shirt

kettle on

the world can wait

I butter toast

pile on jam

and eat it leaning on the counter

sun catching crumbs on the floor

No makeup, no lists

just peace

and the radio low

I might read

I might not

I might lie back down

just because I can

Time doesn’t chase me today

it strolls

it stretches

it hums a tune I know by heart

It’s Saturday

after all

and I love weekends
