It's the Bird in the Sky

that Forgot How to Fly

The Bird in the Sky that Forgot How to Fly

It' s the bird in the sky that forgot how to fly

who came to me one day

my shoulder stooped, plans duped

I wanted to shoo him away

you won't understand, get off my land

go back to your utopian sky

you know of no falls, no clumsy sprawls

a thousand fails to your try

but his wings only flapped, his feet clapped

it just wouldn't take him to the clouds

saw its desperate mien, effort in vain

with a head meek and bowed

and suddenly, the hurt in me

    embraced the limping bird

saw the blue above, an acing dove

and of its kind an entire herd

I comprehend, you understand

little wings, you are just like me

were both birds in the sky that forgot how fly

but will one day do so freely
