It's Snowing!

Winter's gift of joy

Morning, before the sun’s break

Heater’s rumbling like thunder when I arise

Dry and bleary-eyed

I trudge through the laundry crowded hall

Flip on a light, try not to fall

Coffee steams my senses awake

⋆꙳•❅‧*₊⋆☃︎‧*❆₊⋆

Shuffling about the kitchen

In search of warmth and nutrition

Dawn’s rays pierce the treeline

⋆꙳•❅‧*₊⋆☃︎‧*❆₊⋆

Pink and lavender backlight

Fills me with delight

The thrill of falling snow catches hold

⋆꙳•❅‧*₊⋆☃︎‧*❆₊⋆

Drawn from daily duties

Eyes raised in silent reverie

Dancing in the white wind

⋆꙳•❅‧*₊⋆☃︎‧*❆₊⋆

Crystals forming on their journey from heaven

Grace my head, anointing me with innocence

Each angelic jewel a metaphor for human existence

⋆꙳•❅‧*₊⋆☃︎‧*❆₊⋆

Weightless and otherworldly

These flakes could swirl on eternally

Floating and bounding joyfully on the breeze

⋆꙳•❅‧*₊⋆☃︎‧*❆₊⋆

At last, numb are nose, ears, and cheeks

I make one last angel and head for the gate

Burrowing into blankets, the storm to out-wait
