It's Just a Picture Frame

A picture frame as simple as it can be

Composed of metal or wood

Into a perfect square shape for me

It can be hung on a wall

Nicely high and so tall

Giving light to the room

Making all hearts bloom

It can hold wonderful things

Amazing things I say

Like sunshine on a cloudy rainy day

You can see beautiful trees of green

Or ocean and sea tides so clean

Catching beautiful leaves from fall

Or rain just as its about to fall.

Oh and the memories

Oh the things a picture frame can make you remember

Like that unbelievable day we had, last September

The way you used to pull me in, making me feel so safe

And the quick easy ramen noodles in the microwave

Making you remember the smell of flowers on our wedding day

Let's not even begin to talk about the way

You wrapped a delicate piece of gold around my finger

To make me with you forever, just as the smell can linger

A picture frame can hold just about anything

Including the memories from our last spring.

Enclosing happiness from a baby’s first breath

Maybe our daughters first date

Putting loyalty to the test

A family picture can seem so tame

Until you find out about all the unfaithful lies and pain

Causing the glass frame to shatter

Just as I become a good actor

To hold this broken glass together, as best as I can

Making you become less of a man

Four sides to a frame

And it contain

Loss of a loved one, holding a lot of pain.

An empty picture frame sits upon my desk

Where once upon a time a picture did rest

But now the frame stands lifeless and bare

Now reminding me of the love that was once there

As in the past the picture brought me much joy

But now for me, it does destroy

It gave me a hope to glace upon my dreams, when no one else was near

To the words of love, for them you could not hear

When you left me, I threw our picture away

But I kept that frame, to remind me of that very day.
