It's Going to be All Right

Short Poem

By Jeniah ClarkePublished 7 years ago 1 min read

Joy is watching your little brother’s cheeky smile turn into a laugh

Joy is knowing there’s nothing more you need than what you already have

Joy is stopping for just a second and watching everything go by fast

Joy is sitting back and wondering if all of this will really last

Fear is making sure the doors are locked up tight

Fear is looking over your shoulder and suddenly not feeling right

Fear is watching your child grow up and one day, leaving

Fear is seeing them again, but at your tombstone, grieving

Hatred is bottled up feelings of anger from the past

Hatred is the reason that most great friendships don’t last

Hatred is clenching your fist and lashing out on everyone

Hatred is looking back and thinking, “What have I done?”

Hope in the midst of darkness, is a single bright star

Hope is being judged for what you’re not, but knowing who you really are

Hope is an assurance for things that are not really in sight

Hope is watching your whole life fall apart, but knowing that it’s going to be all right
