It Got Away

run it back, run it back, rewind the tape

but the moment vanished, left me in the wake

had it locked, had it tight, thought it was mine

now the grip is empty, watch the timeline

fast lane flash, blink and it’s gone

left me in the dust, singing the same song

chasing taillights, burning rubber smoke

heart doing backflips, feel the pressure choke

one hand on the wheel, other reaching out

but the prize already took another route

no rewind button, no second chance

just the echo of the moment in my stance

it was right there, now it’s in the dust

lessons burn hotter when the moment’s rushed

now I’m spitting bars, trying to make it up
