If only you'd look at it from a different angle

Be open enough to behold what's there and forget

Forget what you're looking for.

Maybe, then, it could be beautiful.

If you appreciate that it exists the way it was meant to

Perhaps, then, you wouldn't befriend destruction

Breaking everything only to create them anew

Behold, our world is already perfect.

The markings on the walls in the alleys are ugly

So too, are the trees filling your yard with dead leaves.

You'll have to rake them soon

Perhaps that's why it's ugly for you.

But, it could be beautiful too.

If only your eyes weren't clouded by fabled perfection

The drawings you so despise could be masterpieces

Woven beneath your feet could be nature's gift

An autumn blanket being worn by your yard.

From a different perspective, you could see the magic

The night wouldn't just be dark

It would be an evening lit with stars

Garnished with the moon dressed in its full attire

And the dawning would spring with music

Faultless tunes sung by chirping birds

If you lay still, your nose could be filled with perfumes

The sweet aromas of flowers blessing a new day.

And somehow, it could still be more beautiful

When the worrier rises conquering the darkness

And she kisses the valley, a warm red-orange.

If you weren't so busy criticizing everything

Wasting resources to paint an already perfect picture

And hating what you don't understand

Maybe, then, it could be beautiful.

Our world, these lands, and those vast oceans

They could all be enchanting

So too, could the creatures living in them

The truth is, you can't make it perfect

You can't recreate what you've already destroyed

And you too, are flawed to perfection.

It could be beautiful

But you're busy chasing the epitome of your imagination.

About the Creator

Crooksology

Let us not deny that we all embark on magical journeys in our heads. The only crazy thing is pretending the other worlds don't exist when we should tell their stories instead.
