Is This Us?

Have you ever wondered who 'us' or 'we' are in political ads?

In political ads, who is this ‘us’?

Is it the middle class, the rich, the poor?

What is this amorphous symbolic fuss?

Who can claim to be the target or core?

Why do these politicians all just sneer?

Haven’t they any decency in them?

Their ads are built around a sense of fear.

To smear opponents seems to be their hymn.

They praise the lies and make themselves look good.

They’re selves without selves and diminish truth.

They are reapers without a spine and hood.

They mask their ideas that sound like they’re sooth.

That they’re the most tribalist to just fare.

They do not show one good concern or care.
