I’ve always wondered…
Is your blue my blue?
Is the sky you see the same in your eyes, with your lives lived as it is in mine?
Or is it contrived - the idea that I see the same color in the sky as every other?
Perhaps there’s another color my brother sees when he looks up.
I’ve asked my mother and she agrees there might be some other
Blue that’s not truly the blue that you see. Are you following me?
Divided, uninvited, most humankind is.
And yet we’ve decided, agreed, delighted that my blue is your blue
A fact- A truth.
With no way to test, no way to prove.
We are so much more than rods and cones, skin and bones.
We are decisions and revisions, editions of existence
The likelihood that your blue is my blue is low -
And I find that beautiful.
