Is Love an Organ?
Why do we ascribe love to the heart?
The organ with four valves
and the equal amount of chambers?
A strong yet fragile thing
that can take your life
if it pumps too much or not enough?
Is that what we think of love?
Not the blood or the brain
or even the kidney or liver
that filters and cleans,
but the organ that hides
behind the rib cage
like a child behind its mother's legs
or a jewel behind a pane of glass?
Is love something to be tucked away
and viewed from afar,
something to protect and harbor?
What hides in your heart that you call
‘love’?

I liked how you connected the scientific and romantic elements of the heart.
