Is it a lie?

Speaking your truth.

There is a fracture in your voice,
a shift I can hear but cannot see.

You ask how I know.

It is the sudden weight in my chest,
the instinct that pulls me back.

My skin prickles when you stand close.
The air grows heavy with what is left unsaid.

So tell me the truth:
Are your words a shield,
or just a beautiful lie?
