Rediscovering My Rainbow

Clear as a pale lullaby, now fully doused in deep magenta - femme fatale gloss, favored by Cosmo cover girls and social media darlings, flaunting perfectly styled Instagram lives.

Original ivory #2, camouflages angry scarlet patches, on a freshly shaven moon face, challenged daily by hormonal ebony stubble.

Life as an emerging chrysalis, viewed from middle-aged, chartreuse eyes, framed in healthy coats of Great Lash violet, mauve velvet folds encased in firm beige lycra (breathe shallow is my mantra), balancing on arrow sharp heels, pedicured toes flashing periwinkle.

Opal magic fingertips, lightly possess a Nora Charles martini glass, several sips of tangerine brightness, and I AM Myrna Loy, enchanting as a midnight crescent, and just as golden.

Real life's pallor, morning gray swaddled in smoggy white, smothers sweet dreams, while full blast alarm screams Monday's arrival.

Slivers of marigold peek through opaque clouds, my reflection in sterling light, reveals a leftover trace of Morphe (Unsettled), on pursed lips that suddenly smile.
