Iridescence

the thinning veil

By Joanne BussierePublished 5 years ago 1 min read

penny walks ahead

a 30’ purple lead

Between us

In this now it offers her

the illusion of freedom

and the security of knowing

i am on the other end

Her first favorite favorite toy

a pink tennis ball

upon its destruction

it was replaced

with a pink and blue one

she buried it in the the corners

of the couches

that one aged out

of her collection

the air escaped its form

today she has a new one

patterned like a rainbow

she has hidden it

for me to find

i love the purple leash

that tethers us

as she runs and hops

it offers an illusion

of freedom

security

perhaps it is i

that needs this

one day one of us

will let go

one day

iridescence
