We observe before we strike
Thoughts connected before they exit
Perhaps interactions are awkward
Or sometimes we think for too long
We are introverted
Most likely grew up silent
Overshadowed by louder peers
Or have hardened over the years
Some of us are cheerful
Smell of lemons and lavender in the air
Others a tad nihilistic
With cold, undaunted eyes
In the end
We are introverted
Our energy comes from within
Our brains a soundless library
Even if we appear socially extroverted
It's quite the opposite
Adoring one on one conversations
Ears perked for others
Reflecting in pools of water
Perhaps a bit too self-aware
Unwinding with multiple music genres
We are everywhere on Earth
Sometimes hidden in crowds
In the library
At a tightly-knit party
Raving at concerts
Or typing on our bedrooms
Independence is our last name
Or perhaps it comes once in a while
At our absolute best
Thinking before we speak
Elegant and well-mannered
Knowing our social limits
Unwinding at the right time
Knowing our identity
At rock-bottom
Rash and irritated defense
Constant fumbling with words
Forcing away from crowds
Struggling for peace
Overthinking and existentialism
We all some of these traits
We are introverts
