Introspection

A Poem

Who am I?

It's a question
I find myself asking often.

Far too often, actually,

as I try to figure out
this new path I'm on.

Once upon a time, I thought I knew who I was.

But one thing led to another,
and this thing changed to that thing.

And here I am,
confused,

feeling like I'm starting over
from scratch.

And what I lack
is the strength to keep going.

But I don't have a choice.

Who am I?

What do I want to do?
Who do I want to be?
Who do I want to spend my time with?

These are all valid questions
when you're trying to figure out
the truth of your inner being,

trying to be the real you
and embrace your purpose in life.

I thought I knew,

and I've pushed here
and I've pushed there
to make things happen.

But the universe
has a way of telling you

when it's time
to go a different path,

even if it's a rocky one,

even if it has

some dead ends
and strange turns.

Sooner or later,
you'll find your way out.

And at that point,

you'll be stronger
for having taken
that hard path.

But I'm ready

to find the exit
to this labyrinth
that I'm lost in.

I am ready
to find out who I am supposed to be

now that I am
no longer me.
