Who Haunts Whom?

By Gerard DiLeoPublished 4 months ago 1 min read
"I saw what you did!"

Those eyes that follow me,

Disembodied, haunting, horrific;

They see all I do and see,

Drip coldly up my spinal panic.

.

What do they see in me?

Why do they follow?

Why their visceral inquiry?

With their sockets so hollow?

.

They follow my every move,

Watch everything I do;

They stare and disapprove,

To collect on something due.

.

Hellfire-flaming red, unblinking,

Drilling, piercing, accusatory;

They know what I am thinking;

They saw my heinous story.

.

The irony is what I did that day

T'was enough to hook them in me,

Because what they saw, they saw in a way

That eyes cannot un-see.

.

So who is haunting whom here?

Can either find some peace?

Entangled together, we're,

In ironclad, lengthy lease.
