Into the Unknown
And you’re not even aware
With my head literally in the clouds on a cold chilly morn,
On top of the world incipient to a new adventure,
My thoughts turn to you unexplainably,
Knowing you’ve no idea where I venture.
🦅
Sun shining in the crystal blue sky,
As I sit and ponder your actions,
The miles grow between our fortitude,
Time and heartbreak full of distractions.
🦅
Are you happy?
Is life being all you need it to be?
I hold you dearly within my memories,
With no regrets to setting you free.
🦅
Soar high, destroying the boundaries of your mind,
Take your ability to annihilate your current fears,
Live as authentically as you plan,
Forget my heartbreak and consistent tears.
🦅
You may believe you’ve been forgotten,
And that’s fine within my mind,
However, it’s the furthest from the truth,
But I understand it’s time to leave it all behind.
🦅
The sun still shines and dawn awakens,
The world moves on if I’m not mistaken,
I’ll remember the hours we made into memories,
I can only attest you’ll never be forsaken.

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.

Colleen, Sadly, we all have such bitter/sweet memories, Diane.
This makes me think of the old song from my youth: "Strumming my pain with [your] fingers...."
