Into The Rain

A poem

By C S HughesPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Too late

I have wound back the clocks

Though the times call only for

An approximation

Outside the clouds precipitously wait

For me (quite wary) to reach a careless hand

They say one two three

In the death of droplets

My hand nearly winter raw (not yet)

A cold kiss on the brow

As if a long dead, favourite aunt

Had pursed her lips against

Your futile escape

Into, askance

The hushed thrum leafrush

En masse the sky gives up

Confounding terminal velocity

In a tinnitus dance

The rain is in my ear, passing through

Familiar ways and bypasses

Opening up the crevice

Of the human heart

So I may (I must)

This falling earth

Fall in

surreal poetry
