It's chilly this morning

the breeze is cajoling the trees

into a whimsical flouncing

just for fun

the sky is a clear crisp blue

and everything is green

after Your quenching rains

i'm sitting in my quiet spot

under the trees

surveying Your world here

i come here just to be quiet and

take in all that is You

Your Ecology is my home

what You created for me is

where I prefer to be

Your Garden is my epicenter

i'm no longer just me anymore

with Your Spirit here

braided with mine

i don't just observe the trees and grass

the blooms and beautiful weeds

i don't just talk to the stars at night

wondering if they are talking back

i don't just observe a blind horse find

his stall and eagerly await breakfast

before he goes back out to eat the grass

that You created for him

no, i don't just observe all of this

i'm standing in the beginning

as You're creating the heavens

and the earth

creating celestial bodies

for signs and seasons

calling the stars each by name

creating the boundaries for

the land and the sea

creating the trees and all the

grasses and forage

then You created the creatures

great and small and

then You created me

when You formed him and

breathed You into his lungs

i took my first breath

in that perfect Garden

it is a part of me

woven into my being like a vine

we are one by design

it wasn't a thoughtful gift

but a promissory note

i'm still holding close to

my heart in that space where

we know each other

through shared breaths

this little spot between the trees

pulls me back and bids me stay

so i do

it belongs to You but

You make it my safe spot

protected from the darkness

and it's here where i can see

Your Ecology

through Your eyes

in mine.
