The passion in her heart is like fire spreading its warm wings, burning, without burning her.
It wraps her in its embrace, tightly, but not tight enough.
It chokes, but she can breathe.
It pulls and pushes, but she still is the one walking.
Talking.
Using that fire to breathe life to words and words to life.
She doesn’t shy at its touch, she welcomes it.
It makes her feel alive.
It makes her feel like she is the fire, and nothing can touch her.
Water can put her out, but her soul will reach to the sky through the smoke.
Knowing it will be lit again.
Her passion is what sets her apart,
Because that fire leaves streaks across her heart
The flames burn hot, with orange embers,
Guiding her way so she always remembers,
To follow the voice within.
She is not afraid when fire makes her decisions,
She knows it will bring her to her heart’s desires.
She can be safe knowing that this fire protects her heart from growing numb.
It keeps her living so that she doesn’t burn out.
That she can’t burn out.
She mustn’t.
That fire, that most run from, she will always run towards.
Because she knows without it, it’s just too dark.
Too easy to be sucked into a life that’s not worth living.
So, she kindles this fire, she runs to find sticks, she can’t let it go out,
She must hold on to its warm arms that hold her.
Because she knows without it,
She is nothing.
