I QUIT all in halls still duskened,

But why do I come apart only to have others anointed?

I was soft in a granite-turned world that's COLD and HARD,

Is being tender-spun forever fated to be banished?

I stood strong for OTHERS while concealing my breakage,

But who goes on to celebrate the ghosts at stifled calamities?

I gagged myself to KEEP up the guise,

Why does quietude hollow me with every concession?

I nourished their ROOTS while mine turned to embered dust,

Is love still sacrosanct when you’re the only one left to trust?

I arrived even with NO glimmering ember,

Do they witness the power it takes to stand and remember?

I bore their storms without even a MOOR,

Why must the healer ache with no voice to implore?

I stitched my WOUNDS where no gaze could trace,

But what remains of me when I give with a face that disappears?

I talk to mirrors, pleading them to GLANCE,

Is it a sin to long for someone who yearns for my return?
