Strawberries

The first taste of a

fresh strawberry

pick by hand

from a local farm

in the July sun

and then plucked

from a green

cardboard pint container

and into mouths.

That first taste,

the initial chill

and burst of favors

unlike any strawberries

found at a

continental breakfast at

an average hotel anywhere.

Seeds that get stuck in teeth

and crunch in molars

like little pebbles caught

in an undertow.

Teeth slice through with ease

and the juice runs

all over cheeks

hands and lips

in sticky sweet red dribbles.

Tongues lap up

the run away juice

turning into kisses

turning into caresses.

Juice staining the

pure while sheets

and pillows.

Screams of pleasure

echo through the room

ricocheting off

the walls like tennis balls

always being returned

to the person who hit them.

Trying to escape but

never quite managing to.
