Insomnia My Curse

The bedroom was too hot and stuffy
I was thinking oh please go to sleep
But sleep just wouldn’t come to me
The eyes said No I need to peep

Every bedtime I feel alone and ill
Can’t drop off even with a pill
My belly, shirt, all hanging uncomfy
I feel a little hard to breathe, stuffy

Insomnia a family curse getting worse
Yet I don’t need doctors or a nurse
I just need sleep, yet it won’t come
Nights are so long till mornings come

Leg aches, arthritis flared, so annoying
The room’s too hot, the fan’s too cold
My belly, shirt, uncomfy, I could cry
No sleep last night and that is why

I turn and turn, I watch the night
Waiting for that morning light
Then just when dawn begins to creep
My tired eyes say — now we’ll sleep
