How did you manage that?
I was an only child
For the first fourteen years
You’d need terrible parenting skills
To shape someone like me
Without any hugging or touching
Where were you all that time?
Ask yourself and reflect on your deeds
Three decades by my side, yet torn apart
Now, to carry on, you turn to another daughter
In this fictional journey of life that I am narrating
I take your every word
And cast it into the fire of your indifference
Characters of flesh and blood
Ready to be portrayed
On the white pages of my tales
Ask yourself and reflect on your deeds
You did something to me
Locked yourself inside your head
For no apparent reason
I search for the cause and always find it within myself
Now other mothers have turned against me
They tell me who I ought to be
They think I’m unaware of their schemes
Of how they badmouth me behind my back
With my only friend
Snatching up the rewards I worked so hard for
Showing up here just for a moment
Luring people in
And drawing down every ailment upon himself
Half of which he brought on himself
Only to abandon them all again
Writing long letters of apology to the masses
Forgetting the moral principles that he teaches his children:
“The locals matter more to me
Than someone as distant as you
I can easily find a replacement
Someone to take your place”
Ask yourself and reflect on your deeds
They aren't what they seem
In the eyes of the public
Which sees no further than the end of its own nose
And is ready to tear each other apart
Why did you crave the whole world?
To be worshipped like a God?
Years of touring wore you down
Perhaps you should have just stuck to that?
Because now, everything you left behind
Weighs you down and you admit it yourself
But life isn't about destroying others
Who want the same things you do
The difference is that they worked hard and earned it
While you, in your greed
Took everything for yourself
Only to stand there
Letting it go in one ear and out the other
With an attitude like that, you’ll never get close to me
Ask yourself and reflect on your deeds
They are well and truly over
