Innocence Forgotten

Seamless she flows

Within the walls of her vessel

Sacred soul in infant form

Beamed from the Sun

Love's epitome glistening

Wide-eyed trust calibrating DNA

Every soul basking in the glow of her heart

Meeting the roaring flame

Of Innocence

Til one day

Not far off

Her blinding light went dark

Extinguished

By a thief in the night

Hands grasping

Fingers probing

Little one sobbing

Mother holding

Faith crumbling

Emotions screeching

Through her tiny frame

Imploding her core

Tiny shards of broken glass

Life redefined

Love made lethal

Innocence... the Enemy

Walls of stone

Shoot from earthy nowhere

Round the castle of her soul

None shall enter here

Armor encrusted child

Smoky whispers tiptoe

In her subconscious web

Neath layers of steel

"Good girl" mask

Takes center stage

None will know

Her secret shame

Innocence Banished

Decades pass in rocky ether

Good girl turned perfectionist

Perfectionist turned slave

To the mask she inhabits

Alone wandering

Trust... a dingy shadow

Iron armor, once a friend

Now strangling foe

Lifeless marching

Through endless days

Slowly fading

Heartbeat dying

Slipping in quicksands of normalcy

She is but a spectre

Innocence Forgotten
