whispering spirits dwell within the solemn winds of mercy,

crossing vast prairies and deep canyons, returning to a source.

the shaman sleeps with eyes open, calm, yet unearthly.

dreaming of mute tales of a red man and his horse.

.

warm, October rays sent late harvest to those who wait.

worn paths tread by moccasins tells stories... many lost.

lazy rivers washed away tears, fathom forever lies in state.

and one can only wonder; the sacrifice and at what cost.

.

peace turned to maddening chaos in an abrupt slight of fate.

gunpowder and arrows traced frontiers, angered with fresh red.

Chief Tala chants a warning, Tee Pees burned, cultures displaced.

leaving a Trail of Tears upon ash amongst lives that were shed

.

men shared this land of symbolism with mighty buffalo and the hawk.

all that remains... is a mirage of faded dreams and silent talk.
