Indeed, A Broken Parent… Sighed…

After the pit pat and the rain had stopped

Because the silence lurked in every corner.

While joy remained, the happy plopped

where the children used to hover.

Indeed, a broken parent sighed….

In the instant life was changed.

Forever the struggle was broken.

Vanished were the long nights that drained.

Silence remained alone to scream for a token.

Indeed, a broken parent sighed….

As the shadows flirted with the darker trash,

they fought deep for any left-behind smiles.

They had always been so quick to dash.

But now, the voices were quiet and lost in the trials.

Indeed, a broken parent sighed….

Because today the sun almost shone for just a bit

before the crushed memories tumbled back.

After all, who can stand the emotions hotly lit

as the parent whose heart can’t yet unpack.

Indeed, a broken parent sighed….

heartbreak
