Incubus of Dreams

Swindler in Daylight

By Alexandra GrantPublished 7 days ago • 1 min read
Imagined and created by the author using Grok

A long journey or expression
Pouring out of the soul and mind
A lifetime of tales unwind

You suffer and bleed for every word
The costs are high, wide, and deep
Yet something takes what you can’t keep

Knowledge and data collected
Used to one’s disadvantage
You have no purchase to leverage

A million lives could not compound it
Such limited time cannot amass
You cannot best it or surpass

Quantitatively it masters
Qualitatively it lords
Yet it remains remiss in words

Incomprehensible feelings, emotions, and yearning
What value are inexperience and no perception?
A lack of sensitivities, sensibilities, or affection

Beauty is to the beholder
There’s none to behold in barren emptiness
Without a heart, it’s nothingness

Who has not suffered knows nothing
Who knows not love does not live or breathe
What of poetry and prose can this conceive?

Cheating creativity
Lying in greed and wait
I’ll leave them to their fate
