In the trench

inspired from a conversation with a friend

“What was the moment ye mind,

tells you she is the right one?

O comrade mine.”

“Why the sudden sentiment?”

You asked, in bewilderment.

while sheathing your armament.

Then you took out a photo,

Wiped the grime on it,

And spaced out.

I got my answer from your smile,

Subtle but reloaded with hope,

A bliss without denial

“Every Second, I am being reminded.

She is the one, She is the one.”

SHE IS THE ONE.

Seeing you

Seeing a better me

I see all the

“what could’ve been”

You are a reminder

Of what went wrong

How it went wrong

Why it went wrong

To me

So go serve the world

as leaves and floras,

Paint it with your color

For the gods to discover!

I shall march deeper

As rhizomes and roots

Into the darkness and the depth

Where decay and death

Is what I breathe

You ask me

Why willingly

Enter the trench

Oh I enjoy its stench

The violence calms me

The blood cleanses me

The weight on my soul

Lightened by each bullet hole

Each bruise, each fracture,

Each fatal blow

Ash o’er forehead

marching against barrages of lead

A taste of sulfur and dread

Is it raining red?

Or is it the shrapnel stuck in my eye socket?
