In The Simple Things

Waking up with absence of pain,

a quiet tangerine sunrise winking through trees,

blades of grass frozen,

with twinkling diamonds,

greetings the early dawn.

The sounds of coffee being poured,

sings of warmth and a new day.

My husband’s smile, our dogs

soft comforting snores,

a sympathy for a happy home.

Gathering of songbirds

flirting with the feeders,

squirrels scampering below,

for their share.

**

My fleece sweater,

protecting me from

the chilly morning.

**

Daily routine of

writing from my heart,

painting from inspiration,

promoting my pieces

with a click and a share.

**

Walking to gather the mail,

as the Red Tail hawk

glides in the azure sky.
