In The Morning

A Poem

By Mihaela VasilevaPublished 7 years ago 1 min read

In the morning, I am the first to awake.

I avoid coffee, instead looking to the tea kettle

for a warm drink in the cold.

My family is asleep.

Meanwhile, I

in my search to find answers

Prowl during the night, body aching for just five more minutes.

I say no.

No not just to sleep but no to Time.

I do not want to see tomorrow.

I aim to savour each moment, immersing my soul in everything my fingers graze upon,

Allowing my heart to sync with the rythyms of song

and moving

or swaying

to any that plays.

I wander through the dark corridors of my home,

Careful not to knock over a plant.

My steps become that of a lion,

Stalking prey in the wild.

Here, in the morning, I find myself all the more lost

Yet found

all

at once.
