In The Dark Wood

lost, searching, frantic

By Katie JolicoeurPublished 10 months ago 1 min read

I’m on my knees in the dark wood

Lost, searching, frantic

I no longer want to be who I should

I’m dying inside trying to be good

Can you not see I’m mantic

I’m on my knees in the dark wood

I don’t want to stand where I once stood

I can’t keep up the antic

I no longer want to be who I should

I’m bound by this falsehood

The fire needed to burn it down, gigantic

I’m on my knees in the dark wood

Would I know myself even if I could

My bones ache, soul hungry, marantic

I no longer want to be who I should

I try to convince myself it’s allgood

But my desires are romantic

I’m on my knees in the dark wood

I no longer want to be who I should
