In That Glance

The kind of closeness that only ever lived in glances.

By ~ Chaitanya Published about a year ago • 1 min read

I saw you from afar-

and somehow, that distance felt endless... I've wished I was closer.

I wanted to be near you. To understand

what makes you laugh, what makes you fall,

what you love, what you hate…

Basically, everything.

Books? I picked them up because of you.

Poetry? Never really cared for it...

Now I find myself scribbling lines that always lead back to you....

I breathe it - for you.

Your smile?

Unfair.

And those dimples?

God, they ruined me-

in the best way.

Time with you wasn’t just time.

It was something sacred,

like the universe pressed pause

just so I could exist next to you for a little while.

Reading and writing were never my things.

Now they’re all I have-

because somehow, they keep me close to you

when you're not around.

And then came the end…

The kind of ending I never wished for.

No words. No goodbye.

Just you -on that stage, glowing under the lights 🤌🏻✨.

And me -

standing in the corner, in shadows,

holding onto moments that never really happened.

But then,

you looked at me.

Just one glance.

Just one.

And that glance -

was everything I’d ever wanted,

and everything I’d have to let go.
