Kindness reverses bad influences
Past broken paths
Whenever you feel like going downhill
Slow down and look around
*
It can be a slight, barely visible gesture
A smile, a child’s or a dog’s activity
If you can’t find the obvious
Look for these simple things
*
Around you
And they will double their strength to fight
That persistent steaming cough
Clutching our soul
*
Until there is nothing to breathe
With our own oxygen supplied
So, we have to reach for external ways
To help ourselves
*
To hopefully see the light
On a long and winding road
Leading to repentance
For past unwieldy sins
*
Trying to create a roundabout
On every supposedly straight lane
Ill-disposed, impractical, inconvenient
Squeezing our head
*
Like a lemon
With an acidic influence
Jumping in hiccups
Thousands of times in one day
*
Until there is no more room
Then kindness has the last word
Slicing all the rotten apples with one sword
Empowering, energising, echoing long
*
Enough to feel, see, hear, smell, and touch life
In the right places
Until it all happens again
In disgusting disguise guaranteed
*
That next time you won’t recognise it
At least kindness is the easiest to spot
When your head is on
In the whirlwind of a hurricane
*
Good luck! It will be hard
But it’s always worth a try
To discover new ways
Of just dealing with your own problems
