In Remembrance of Poets

Inspired by my father Eriks Raisters who was a popular Latvian poet and writer

Eriks Raisters

To be with you was always a wonder,

the time now long ago covered with golden words,

now off to the heavens you fly,

but still, you fill my imagination.

*

You are in my mind, making my heart ache

and my head whirls from your poetic words,

can’t believe that your soul has flown,

but with me always in your poetry, this I’ve known.

*

No matter what it might be,

the sky or the deep blue sea,

the highways and the byways -

they were all felt and seen through your eyes.

*

I was always the magic seeker,

mesmerized by the pictures you painted,

with your words that took me around the world -

enamored with your lovely muses.

*

Now that you have gone,

to where I can no longer reach you,

I have your poetry to fill me with pleasure -

every day that I live.
