In My Space

This day, this moment, this time that I see,

Will forever remain in my mind everlasting.

For it is these imagines that pretend to be,

That has held me prisoner unrelentingly.

Sequestered away from all that I’ve known,

I wonder if there are stars that sparkle above.

I wonder if there are angels or arches or thrones,

In this world that isn’t as some have loved.

This world is filled with things that might be,

It becomes more difficult the accept and to hold.

Those words that you’ve spoken I can almost see,

But in the shallow of my hand, there’s nothing so bold.

Speak to me again about what might have been,

Tell me you wanted something other than me.

For to seek that which was lost is considered a sin,

According to those who gossip saying it can not be.

So, I’ll consider their comments as I’ve done before,

But keep my business in my house out of sight.

For to surrender my dreams or my will to those who abhor,

Is to become just like those who’ve forgotten how to fight.

Minding one’s own business is a talent I’ve been told,

One that has merit and praise and grows with age.

For to give my permission is it often foretold,

Is opening my heart to be ravaged it’s been said.

There’s nothing more here to see,

I tell those around me who seek to intrude.

I push them along, out of my way uttering a plea,

To keep me from saying more or changing my mood.
