In My Basement It Waits

A Poem

By Kimberly BeierPublished 8 years ago 1 min read

I don’t know when it came, all I know is that it’s here now

It lives in my basement, but I don’t know how

Every night I hear the basement stairs creak and groan

And the thing in the basement just continues to moan

My mom knows something about it, I know she must

For she hides the basement key inside of our father’s bust

Tonight will be the night, I have to find out as soon as I can

Could it possibly be a woman or man

I unlock the door and slowly creep down each stair

But as I continue I sense that something is there

I turn on my flashlight and look around the room

While I sense the feeling of an impending doom

I find the creature and I don’t know if I should be happy or sad

For the creature in my basement, is my undead dad
