Thou fought and died for our country,

Your sweat and tears, mixed with blood were not in vain,

Thou that left large families back,

Your wives and children in pain,

Thou that never slept a wink,

Did not have food or water,

Thou that pledged loyalty for your country,

Stood firm on the oath,

Thou that was so brave,

With skills to fight and throw spears,

We honor and respect you,

We adorn what legacy you left,

You left us hope,

And for that we are grateful,

May you continue resting easy.

I love how you pay tribute to your country's heroes. Most of us forget the sacrifices of those gone before. I pay tribute to you for paying tribute to them.

  • This was such a touching tribute to them. Wonderful poem!
