IN LOVE WITH A MEMORY

Someone I used to know

**

 I fell in love with soft blue eyes and his hair of wavy gold.

He held me captivated by the stories that he told.

His smile was as pure as the bright sunshine that came from heaven above.

I’m still in love with the memory of the man I used to love.

 *

 He was as sweet and caring as the day is long;

His voice so clear as he sung his song;

When he held me tight, I could almost melt;

It was a gentle strength I’d never felt.

 *

 He was all I could ever dream of in a world so cold and cruel.

And on the spark of my desire, he supplied the fuel.

He found a way to turn me on to life and far beyond.

One day I had to find him, but found instead, he’d gone.

 *

 He’s only just a memory, now, and yet I seem to find

That no matter where I try to turn, he’s always on my mind.

I wish I could explain it but the words just aren’t enough.

I’m still in love with the memory of the man I used to love.
