In itself

I know I can't fly

I always jump with two feet

knowing that, at times

I have left the Earth

even for a minute or two.

****

Closing my eyes to welcome the darkness,

opening them just the same to see.

The sun peaking over the horizon and knowing

that we are on a spinning ball

in the middle of space.

How do we not float away?

****

And thus, I am forced to carry on

regardless of how fearful I feel.

In the dark

or that I might not be anchored

to the world as well as it seems.

****

My thoughts are my own worst enemy

as I wrangle them to help me

other than hindering me

Consumed with how much I care

and how pretty it is to think so?
