In Defense of Our Overgrown Garden
A paradise, in our backyard
In our garden, wild and free
The beauty of nature, everyone should see
Green leaves, flowers
A paradise, in our backyard
Some might call it overgrown
But for us, it is a treasure in its own right
A haven for creatures big and small
A place that lives thrives, and invites
Yes, the grass can be knee-high
But it is a home for flying birds
Shrubs can be tangled and wild
But it is a shelter for a mother and child
We may not have a perfectly manicured lawn
But our garden is where memories are born
We have seen the first sprout of every plant
They watched them grow with each passing chant
We danced in the rain among the weeds
and chased butterflies with childlike glee
We watched the sunset from our old swing
And heard birds singing
Our garden does not conform to society's norms
But it is the place where our souls are reborn
From the chaos, of the outer world
In this overflowing garden, we find peace
So let the flowers grow, and the grass grows tall
In this garden, there is no need to conform to beauty
With our hands, we will relieve its needs
Because it is a part of us, literally our hearts
So don't judge our garden by its wild appearance
Because it has a love that goes beyond appearances
In protecting our grown garden, we will stand tall
Because it is a reflection of our love for everyone.
