In Color

I dream in color

my aspirations are far too large to fit under one umbrella.

My mind is a penumbra,

filled with images in black and white

Thankfully I still see the differences between what is wrong or right.

With compassion I love in pink

despite how my spirit sometimes feels purple hearted

due to the violet and venomous relationships I was force to part with.

When I feel blue

I remind myself that I will make it through.

I live in color

I am a golden child

who was once consumed by the idea of perfection

Stressed and perplexed, I recently learned I remain the exception in spite of my imperfections.

Like the black beauty spot on the left side of my caramel profile

Or my love for laughter, but ironic dislike to smile

The fact that the inside of my hands are often salmon colored

or how one of my calves is slightly bigger than the other.

I write in color

Poetry, for me, has become where relief is

With my words I create yellow and green visuals and art masterpieces.

When I cry translucent tears

I turn my pain into passion and paint my passion here

In color.
