A mind occupied by machinations and schemes,

I was motivated by aspirations of profit and lucre.

Consumed with ideas and fixated on pointless daydreams,

My busy mind shook as I laid eyes on her.

/

Like a warm summer breeze dispels dark clouds from the skies,

her very presence seemed enough to inspire.

I felt a kindling of bright hope as I looked in her eyes,

Two joyfully radiant glimmers of grey specked sapphire.

/

My heartbeat checked as I looked across the room.

She looked to be standing there with not a care in the world,

A sharp mind seemingly unfettered by shadow or gloom.

She laid my soul bare as my thudding heart whirled.

/

And yet, somehow, so purposeful - there she still stood.

Together across the expanse of room, our eyes met.

Our eyes spoke as fondly as we could,

And I savored the moment so as not to forget.

/

My whirring mind composes, and my soul’s fretting abates.

It’s not as though my problems have gone away at all.

It’s just – as I admire her beauty and traits,

My biggest problem seems, in comparison, so small.
