Impactful Windows

My experience visiting Sainte Chapelle

By Ellie HoovsPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

First

the room is tenebrous

in twilight corners

that seem etched

with charcoal.

I ponder what these

gray stone walls

have seen.

Then breaks

the quiescently calm silver

by prismatic luminescence

I turn and feel nothing

but exaltation

my face washed with

a riot of

unified color

and I forget

about the empty

black space

where I’d first entered

and feel,

for a moment,

that I

belong.
